What We Are....
We are a group of people in the power producing industry dedicated to providing clean and reliable
energy to the citizens of Ontario.
Commissioned in 1991, the base load Kirkland Lake Power Corp. generating station uses Gas Turbine
and Biomass burning technology to produce 106 Megawatts of electricity. The electricity produced by the station is
supplied to the Ontario electricity grid for distribution to all users of electricity in the province and beyond,
whether residential, commercial or industrial.
The main equipment used to generate electricity consists of three
General Electric LM2500 PE gas turbine/ generator sets with heat recovery boilers, three KMW combustors with boilers
and 2 steam turbine generators. The facility also uses a 33 Megawatt General Electric LM2500 Plus DLE gas
turbine/generator set in simple cycle configuration for dispatch operation during peak electricity demand periods.
